The company announced that it has obtained FAR part 91K authorization and Management Specification approval from the FAA. The FAA agency amended FAR part 91, which regulates general aviation, to include specific regulations (subpart K) for fractional operators. Specifically, subpart K defines fractional ownership programs and their various participants, formalizes regulations specifically for fractional ownership programs, and allocates responsibility and authority for safety.

ExecuJet Aviation Group Acquires Germany's Jet Connection

ExecuJet Aviation Group, one of Europe's leading aircraft sales and charter organizations, has acquired Frankfurt-based Jet Connection Businessflight AG. Founded in 1997 by entrepreneur Rainer Wenz, Jet Connection has established itself as one of Germany's premier air charter companies. The acquisition ensures the immediate addition of two Bombardier Learjet 60 and one Bombardier Challenger 604 aircraft to ExecuJet's European charter fleet.

Cessna Pushes Jet Programs

Cessna says its CJ3 will be first aircraft in its class to integrate electronic charts with its flight management system (FMS) performance database. According to Cessna, the CJ3's Collins Pro Line 21 system will display the airplane’s position on approach and airport diagrams while also showing departure and arrival procedures. Meanwhile, Cessna has begun building the Citation Mustang prototype’s tooling and parts.

Republican Convention Brings Airspace Restrictions

Neil Armstrong, Scott Crossfield To Attend NBAA 2004 Opening

The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) announced that astronaut Neil Armstrong and test pilot Scott A. Crossfield will present the 2nd Annual Harry B. Combs Award during the Opening General Session of the NBAA 57th Annual Meeting & Convention on Tuesday, October 12 in Las Vegas, NV. Armstrong, the first man to set foot on the surface of the moon, and Crossfield, the first to fly both Mach 2 and Mach 3, will present the Combs Award to a recipient who will be announced next month by the National Aviation Hall of Fame (NAHF).

Salt Lake City's Desert News reports CEO Rick Adam is looking at Texas, Kentucky and other states as possible new homes for his company, however, Ogden Utah's government officials hope their town makes the final cut. Adam's decision will be worth a lot to Ogden or any other location chosen as the new headquarters location. He plans to hire as many as 500 workers within three years.

NBC News Team Attempts Charter Security Breach in St. Louis

Last week, several business aviation organizations sent a security notice to its members that described an attempted general aviation facility breach by a network news agency. In an effort to show allegedly lax security procedures, NBC News attempted to penetrate a charter helicopter operation at St. Louis Downtown Airport. The attempt was thwarted and the individuals were apprehended. Though this breach of security was stopped, NBC and other news agencies may attempt to repeat their efforts at other facilities around the country.

NBAA Announces Dates for ABACE2005 in Shanghai

Business Aviation Sees Progress On Airport Access Issues

Operators at the Teterboro (TEB), Morristown (MMU) and White Plains (HPN) airports may benefit from a new FAA initiative to reduce radio congestion and delays in the New York area. Since 2003, NBAA has been working closely with TEB, MMU, and HPN-based operators, flight plan service providers, and FAA Traffic Flow Management personnel to reduce frequency congestion and thereby decrease departure delays at the New York satellite airports. While the FAA works on expediting GA operations in the Northeast, the debate over allowing business aviation access to Washington DC’s Reagan National Airport (DCA) continues to be raised.

NBAA Names Edward M. Bolen President and CEO

National Business Aviation Association has elected its new Chief Executive Officer. On Thursday, the NBAA announced the selection of Edward M. Bolen as president and CEO of the organization, which represents more than 7,600 companies that operate general aviation aircraft.
